The Oriental studies fellowship programme
The program is for international specialists from post-Soviet countries, the Middle East, North Africa, India, and Pakistan in the fields of Oriental Studies, archaeology, and history.

Opportunities
At the end of the internship, participants will prepare a scientific research project of 15,000–25,000 characters (including spaces) based on an individual research plan in English

The InteRussia fellowship program for specialists in Oriental Studies was launched by the Gorchakov Foundation in collaboration with the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in 2025.

About programme
InteRussia is an opportunity for young specialists in archaeology, history, and political science to immerse themselves in Russia's academia. Participants will visit leading museums and archaeological sites, take part in expert sessions at universities and analytical centers, and exchange experiences with colleagues from various countries.
The main advantage of the program is the opportunity to work under the guidance of leading Russian experts from the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences.

Eligibility

countries of the post-Soviet space, the Middle East, or North Africa, India or Pakistan - age 25-40
- place of residence outside of Russia
- professional command of English (CEFR C1 and higher)
- submission of a research proposal on the selected topic in accordance with the requirements specified in the application form
- the absence of any employment or other connections with the Institute of Oriental Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences (including enrollment in postgraduate studies or dissertation defense)
- PhD degree or working experience in academic institutions/think tanks or postgraduate studies in progress
